Dr. Karan to her patients - is a board-certified pediatric dentist with a unique path to dentistry. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New York University in 1999 and spending several years in the art world at Sotheby's International, she followed her true calling and completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the renowned Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 2006. She then completed her Pediatric Dentistry residency at the prestigious Columbia University-New York Presbyterian Hospital in 2008 and became board certified the following year. Dr. Karan is certified to provide enteral sedation in both New York and New Jersey.

Her psychology background shapes everything she does - Dr. Karan believes in managing behavior before dentistry, earning a child's trust through honesty, patience, and genuine connection. She affectionately calls her patients "sugar muffins" and "butter biscuits," and her calm, unhurried approach helps even the most anxious children feel safe in the dental chair. Before establishing Howell Pediatric Dentistry, she provided care at practices in Rockland County and New Jersey. When she's not "tickling teeth with her motorcycle toothbrush," Dr. Karan enjoys traveling, volunteer dental mission work, and spending time with family - especially her adored niece, Hayleigh.
